1900 Census Column Headings

Column 1 - Number of dwelling,  in the order of visitation
Column 2 - Number of family, the order of visitation
Column 3 - The name of every person whose place of abode on the first day of June, 1900, was in this family. Enter surname first, then the given name and middle initial, if any. Include every person living on June 1, 1900. Omit children born since June 1, 1900.
Column 4 - Relationship of each person to the head of this family - whether wife, son, daughter, servant, boarder, or other.
Column 5 - Color or race
Column 6 - Sex
Column 7 - Date of Birth, month and year
Column 8 - Age at last birthday
Column 9 - Wether single, married, widowed, or divorced
Column 10 - Number of years married
Column 11 - Mother of how many children
Column 12 - Number of children living
Column 13 - Place of Birth of this person, naming State or Territory of United States, or the Country if of foreign birth
Column 14 - Place of Birth of the Father of this person, naming State or Territory of United States, or the Country if of foreign birth
Column 15 - Place of Birth of the Mother or this person, naming State or Territory of United States, or the Country if of foreign birth
Column 16 - Year of immigration to U.S.
Column 17 - Number of years in the U.S.
Column 18 - Naturalization
Column 19 - Occupation, trade, or profession of each person ten years of age and over
Column 20 - Months not employed
Column 21 - Attended school (in months)
Column 22 - Can read
Column 23 - Can write
Column 24 - Can speak English
Column 25 - Owned or rented home
Column 26 - Owned free or mortgaged
Column 27 - Farm or house
Column 28 - Number of farm schedule
