Marriage Index
The searchable marriage index below was compiled and is maintained by the Bosque County Historical Commission from the marriage licenses recorded by the Bosque County Clerk in volumes B to O (1860-1980) and from the files submitted by the county to the State (1966-2015). The original recorded marriage license may contain misspelled names, incorrect dates, missing data, and misreported data. In addition, the creation of these online indexes may contain transcription errors from the original marriage license, and the data should be used primarily as a reference to locate the original document. Ongoing corrections are made to this index as they are discovered.
The information here does not constitute legal information and is provided only as an aid in locating the volume where the license is recorded. In order to make searching for names easier, some of the names in these indexes may have been modified to reflect the actual spelling and not the spelling as recorded on the recorded marriage license. You may obtain an uncertified photocopy of the recorded marriage license from The Bosque County Collection. Marriage Licences - These are the recorded marriage licenses showing the parties involved, the date of the license, the date of the marriage, the person performing the marriage, and the date filed.
Affidavits for Marriage Licences - These are affidavits stating that there are no legal objections for a couple to marry. If a couple is under age (21 for the groom; 18 for the bride), the parents must give their approval. Many of these affidavits contain the original attached letters and notes signed by the parents.
Notice of Intention to Marry - These are documents giving the names, ages, and residences of couples that intended to marry.
